Spiders on the Minnesota Building
The photos that make up this image were taken between 11:44 and 11:51 on August 10, 2016 from the window of our apartment, #1613 at 111 East Kellogg Boulevard, St Paul, MN.
It was a beautiful day—warm, dry and cloudless. I was working on my computer and dreaming out the window as I often did. The view from this window was forever fascinating. All of a sudden I saw a fellow crawling over the edge of the Minnesota building. A suicide? Base jumpers? Urban mountain climbers? Window washers.
They were working fast, so I had to get my camera gear set up if I was going to capture this image. By the time they were set up to wash this portion of the building I was ready with my Nikon D7200 with a 70-200mm lens zoomed to 160mm. I was shooting a ISO100 with an exposure of 1/500 of a second at ƒ5.6. I shot on a tripod without moving the camera. Ten of the images were opened as layers in Photoshop. It took four months to perfect the masks. There are only two window washers in this photo.
